GOD'S LIGHT FOR THE WORLD

How do we get the answers we seek to daily living, to problems we face, in how to live, work, play, raise our children, care for our health?
We get it from the Bible, the first Manuel given to us by God Himself. The Bible has so much information on how to live that it puts all those self help books written by man to shame.
If you would only put your trust and faith in God, there would be less sickness in the world. Our habits are what bring us down, what we eat, what we think, our thoughts alone can destroy us, that is why there is so much stress and depression in the world.
If Satan had not brought sin into the world, we would be in a much better place than we are today. There would be no sickness, or death, or any of the negative things that cause stress and depression.

The right way to get answers is God and His Holy Word, The Bible.
The right way to get answers is Jesus His Son who shed His blood for us to redeem and save us.
The right way to get answers is The Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to us to comfort us until He comes again to reclaim what belongs to Him.

The wrong way to get answers is below, in Satan's world. Read the following to see how not to get answers to all of our problems.

DESPERATE FOR ANSWERS

DEUTERONOMY 18:9-14

When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13  Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
14  For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

Here are some other verses in the Old Testament that speak about familiar spirits, witches, wizards and those that talk to the dead.

Exo 22:18  Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Lev 19:31  Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Lev 20:6  And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Lev 20:27  A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or
that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them
with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
1Sa 28:3  Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
1Sa 28:9  And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
2Ki 21:6  And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
2Ki 23:24  Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
Isa 8:19  And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
Isa 19:3  And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

A few years ago there was a popular television program hosted by a self-proclaimed medium named John Edwards. He supposedly received messages from spirits of the dead to give to their family members in the audience. His readings prompted many people to believe in this occult practice. Satan is using people like John Edwards, psychics, clairvoyants, people who profess to be witches etc. to prepare us and get us ready for the biggest deception of them all.
The appearance of Christ himself whom Satan will try to impersonate.

We live in a culture where people are desperate to know the future, and they turn to physics and mediums for the answers which is a  practice expressly forbidden in the Scriptures. And on many occasions expressed by God not to turn to such people for answers.

The ancient Israelites were desperate to know their future, and God knew that they would be tempted to consult ungodly sources for answers, so he warned them to stay away from mediums and those who contact the dead.

God knew that these practices would prevent ancient Israel from being holy, set part people who would be a blessing to all nations. The future for Israel was determined by their faithfulness to God’s covenant, not the words of soothsayers and psychics. Reliance on these evil practices indicated a failure to trust the Lord with their lives.

When you are desperate for information about your future, turn to the sovereign God of heaven. He is the only One who holds the answers you seek. He is the only one who can heal us, nurture us, comfort us, guide us and lead us into the promised land which is heaven.

Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, God had warned them against following the religious practices of the Canaanite people. (read the following on your own, Exodus 23:33; 34:12-14; Numbers 33:55,56; Deut. 7:3-5, 16; 12:30-31; 20:18; Joshua 23:12-13). This passage of Deut. 18:9-14 gives us the most complete listing of all the magical and divination arts prohibited and condemned by God. Instead, God’s people were told to listen to the Prophet whom God would raise up from among the people. Initially referring to Moses in verse 18, the prophecy would find its final fulfillment in Jesus in John 1:21; 7:40.

With the time of the end so close, Satan will pull out all he has to deceive the people. He will use our dead loved ones to try and turn us from God. He will use their images through his demons to try and trick us into believing whatever he wants. So we must be diligent, we must be watchful, for as it says in 1 Peter 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

So let us be vigilant, pray for protection and guidance to prepare for the days ahead. Let us place our hands in those of Jesus who is our rock and in the rock He will hide us, safe from the dangers to come.

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
