THIS GENERATION
What generation was Jesus talking about here? It was His generation which according to research started with the 30 AD generation. A generation is 40 years. This generation passed in 70 AD with the Abomination of Desolation in
Therefore, it got me thinking, when our generation began. I was born in 1951 if a generation is 40 years my generation would be from 1951 to 1991. The next 40-year generation will be 1992 to 2031. Let me know what you think.
So much talk has been around a year of 2012 which the Mayans claim a disastrous calamity will occur. Now no one knows what this calamity will be or if anything will happen on this date. Some think it will be the end of the world. I honestly do not know for sure. However, I do know what the Bible says and believe in it before I will believe in anything man will say. The Bible was inspired by God and written down by man at God’s instruction and the Holy Spirit.
I refuse to time set anything because there is danger in that. It causes nothing but heartache when the promised thing does not occur as in John Miller’s day with the Seventh Day Adventist movement. The believed in a date when Jesus would return forgetting what they had read in the Bible, that not even Jesus knows when he is coming back, nor do the angels know, but only the Father knows.
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
So why did John Miller and his group forget this message from Jesus? I think it was because they were still part of the world. If they were truly in tune with the Word of God they would not have missed that point and tried to date the coming of Christ.
I believe that history repeats itself, and that the prophecies in the Bible have duality, what has happened in the past will happen again in our time. We do not know if Jesus will come in our time or in the next generation’s time, but regardless of when He comes, we must be prepared and focus on the matters at hand.
Will this generation seek after signs and wonders, you bet. The Bible says so with the coming of false christs. Will there be destruction, wars, and rumors of wars, famine, and pestilence, diseases and earthquakes, Will there be nations rising against other nations? Of course there will. It says so in Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Jesus even said it would be the beginning of sorrows on the earth. Do you see these things happening now? Have you not seen the escalation of the earthquakes and other natural disasters? Are
Therefore, as you read these verses, place your generation in the picture. See what God wants you to see and get prepared.
